Does Love Last Forever? a personal story
The 72nd Anniversary of Paul & Sumi Endow's Wedding - SuPa!
My parents, Paul and Sumi Endow, were married in the Hollywood Presbyterian Church on November 1, 1953. It’s the 72nd Anniversary of their wedding this weekend!
A Bittersweet Time of Remembrance and Tribute
Below is a photo from last year’s celebration of their 71st Anniversary with family on November 1, 2024.
Hard to believe, so much rapidly transpired that lead to my dad’s passing only months after this celebration. He died on November 25, 2024 due to a torn aorta.
For Dad’s memorial, I gathered a collection of photos depicting memorable moments of their Love Story and produced a video with their song, “You Belong to Me”, sung by our daughter, their granddaughter, Lisa Goe.
A few years ago, I gave my parents “homework”. I asked them to share their Top 10 tips on How to Stay Young. EVERYONE who have met my parents have been amazed at how vibrant they appeared. They were often puzzled, like, how could this be? they are in their 90’s and they are moving and shak’in more than most 70 year olds!
They have sharp minds and are actively productive: my dad with his garden, my mom with her handcrafts. Both always eager to help others and serve others with food and fun.
To my amazement, my parents actually did the homework! they each wrote their list of tips for staying young and having a happy life. Gems to learn from and treasure!
How often do you come across advice from couples who have been married for more than 40, 50, 60, 70 years?!? and are still HAPPILY MARRIED.
This couple, Paul and Sumi, were married for 71 years!
Curious to know their secrets?
Here’s my Dad’s list. Notice the admiration and appreciation my Dad had for Mom, their marriage was always at the center of his happy life.
TOP 10 Tips from Dad on How to Stay Young:
My Dad is no longer with us to love and physically embrace my Mom, but I hope that through writing this tribute article, and sharing his words of wisdom and a touch of humor, that their love can be shared and serve as a source of inspiration and encouragement for others.
To read the story behind “SuPa” and their wedding in 1933 in Hollywood, California, you may like to read my article published earlier last year.
Wedding in Hollywood in 1953 ~ SuPa!
A few years ago I became intentional about documenting my parent’s history and life stories - with the purpose of preserving family history and capturing life lessons that the youth and future generations can learn from. Furthermore, I hoped to stoke the power of our personal mindset and actions of today that will impact our children and children’s children. God blessed us with the breath of life, in love and with purpose, a greater purpose than daily survival or even professional ambition.
